Statement of Food & Water Watch Executive Director Wenonah Hauter on Behalf of Americans Against Fracking
Washington, D.C.—“One million comments have been submitted to the White House and the Bureau of Land Management urging them to protect public lands from fracking. These comments reinforce the voices of the over 10,000 people who called the White House on Wednesday asking the Obama Administration to value communities and their resources over oil and gas industry profits.
“Americans Against Fracking and its allies are proud to have collected nearly 650,000 comments calling on the Obama Administration to ban fracking on public lands. It is increasingly clear that fracking should occupy no place in any policies to curb climate change, as it only makes the problem worse. President Obama should listen to science and the people who elected him and stop this assault on our commons.”
